Where to start. I’d set ambitious goals for myself but knew I’d need a plan. I tried coaching with an Olympic gold medalist and to be frank, it was so bad I got nothing from it. Then I came across Neil on FB with his over 40s plan and the result after my consultation was my personal plan. I spent many hours on the bike but in a structured and focused way that fit around me So let’s put this into context. As a rider, mainly focused off road, my biggest ride was 30 miles (max). I had goals that exceeded my capability. Neil made me: - a fitter rider. We built the engine. I just did my first ever 100 mile ride and got a PB on the final climb (local to me) but I was 90 miles in. Neil taught me pacing and fuelling - it worked - I didn’t bonk, Neil taught me fuelling - I enjoyed my events, that was my goal, Neil made it happen I cannot thank Neil enough WE DID IT 🎉🎉
I contacted Neil as I needed a last minute two-month emergency plan to help me prepare a 1000km race. I started the program weighing over 78kg, and went racing after two months weighing only 71.5kg. Weight loss was controlled, and while losing weight I increased my stamina and power at the same time. If you think the two things together are not achievable then you are wrong, trust Neil and you'll see yourself. But one thing which I profoundly appreciated was the interaction and support I had with Neil. Always ready to answer, always ready to explain and clear my doubts about nutrition, training, power and so on. He is the beast, really. I have tried another coach in the past, a famous one, and went nowhere close with what I received with Neil. I stopped my plan just after the race, to give me time to recover, but seriously considering starting again soon, as I'm missing the great support I constantly received from him, and my overall fitness and feeling at the best of my capacities and strength thanks to his plan.
